Women embody the very definition of Perseverance:
“…steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state… especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.”
As a gender, we’ve fought an ongoing stigma set by historical and misplaced ideas about what a woman is capable of and the power we literally possess. Now, in a time like 2019, and a place like the Bay Area, those ideas have and NEED to be thrown out the window. Seeing the literal magic that happened at this year’s Women of KBLX Empowerment Forum (both behind the scenes and amongst the audience), the future really IS female!
This year’s speakers and presenters: Jennifer, Lily, Cathy, Paula, and Anyka…they encompass the very themes that make the Bay so special. They represent the preservation of what we know the Bay Area is at its very core. The Women of KBLX is about spreading wisdom, establishing support, and working together to create powerful alliances in business, self-transformation, community development, and womanhood.
As a 25-year-old, I feel like I’m in the middle of my journey, already walking my path towards the future I’ve set for myself with the people I’ve been blessed to have on the ride. I’m happy to say that some of those people have been the ladies of KBLX:
Listening, laughing and learning Radio 101 from Nikki and Sterling all my life, running in the same social and educational circles as Delores and Miranda, and being mentored by Kimmie to now walk in her #bosslady footsteps.
Seeing these women in action everyday is something inspiring; brainstorming with them to create a space where Bay Area women can come together at least once a year to encourage and uplift each other…that’s a dream come true. I hope the young ladies who attended this year’s forum retain the stories shared and the valuable connections made from the day. The future is female. We run the world, whether we truly know it or not.
