20 Million Americans May Have Had Coronavirus: U.S. health officials now believe 20 million Americans may have had the coronavirus at some point during the pandemic. If accurate, the number is nearly 10 times greater than the 2.3 million confirmed cases. The findings suggest that many people contracted the virus without knowing it due to a lack of symptoms. Twenty million infections would represent six percent of the nation’s population. White House Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Anthony Fauci previously stated that 25% of infected people may experience no symptoms.
18 Family Members Test Positive For Coronavirus After Surprise Party: CBS says 18 members of a Texas family were recently diagnosed with the coronavirus after seven of them gathered for a surprise birthday party. Three of the family members, including two seniors, are currently hospitalized with serious cases. One of them was already battling breast cancer. The outbreak began after the party attendees contracted the virus from a single person and then spread it to 10 other family members. A total of 25 people were at the party.
Movie Theatres Offering New Coronavirus Safety Protocols: The Daily Mail says movie theaters are reopening and planning to keep people safe by removing seats for social distancing, offering pre-packaged popcorn and bottled soft drinks and staggering movie start times. Theatres are no longer going to offer bulk candy bins because of the coronavirus.
Miami Fining People Who Don’t Wear Coronavirus Masks: WSVN says the city of Miami has passed an ordinance that allows the police to fine people, who don’t wear coronavirus masks in public. The first time someone is caught without a mask they will be given a warning. Second-time offenders will be ticketed $50 while third-time offenders will be ticketed $150. Residents can be fined up to $500
Major League Baseball’s New Coronavirus Rules: Newser says Major League Baseball has distributed a 101-page coronavirus operations manual to teams. It gives information on the new rules for reopening the season. The league has banned post-game buffets, showers and spitting. The league is enforcing social distancing by having some players sit in the stands instead of the dugouts. Players have been told to avoid fist bumps, handshakes, hugs and high-fives. Dumping coolers of Gatorade on players and shoving pies in one’s face won’t be tolerated.
