Rihanna fans are convinced that the bad gal is expecting a bundle of joy, after misinterpreting an interview she gave on Thursday night in New York City, during her fifth annual Diamond Ball gala.
Hitting the red carpet in style, Rih spoke with ESSENCE about her admiration for and commitment to empowering black women. At one point during the brief chat, the global star made reference to becoming a mother, and the comment has unsurprisingly been met with speculation of an impending baby Rih.
"I'm a black woman. I come from a black woman, who came from a black woman, who came from a black woman," Rih began her now viral-response. "And, I'm gonna give birth to a black woman. That's who I am, it's the core of who I am, in spirit and in DNA."
As the clip made its rounds on social media, the #RihNavy was sent into a frenzy -- but TMZ has since stepped in to put a halt to the rumor mill. According to the outlet, and its usual "sources with direct knowledge," the Antisinger is, in fact, not pregnant. What is certain, however, is that Rih sure knows how to host a party.
Thursday night's soiree welcomed a star-studded roster of guests, as Rih and friends including Pharrell and DJ Khaled raised over $5 million for her Clara Lionel Foundation. The singer founded the charity in honor of her grandparents; it supports and funds global education, health and emergency response programs.
During the silent auction portion of the event, Cardi B bid a whopping $111,000 for a yet-to-be released signed copy of Rihanna's coffee table book, People reports.
