Robin Roberts' newest project, Stolen by My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story, airs on Saturday, offering fans the opportunity to watch real-life drama ripped straight from the headlines.
The film, produced by Roberts' movie and documentary production company, Robin Roberts Presents, is based on the true story of a young woman who learns at age 18 that she was abducted as a baby and that the family she lives with is not her own.
Nash plays Gloria Williams, the woman who abducts Mosley at a South Carolina hospital shortly after her birth. Nash tells WABC that she's was ecstatic to work on a project with Roberts, who was often on set.
"It was just like, 'Hey, Robin Roberts is a part of this? Where do I sign?'" Williams said. "I mean, we all love Robin, and we were so excited when she came to set."
Roberts, who recently celebrated 30 years at ABC News, said the project was the perfect opportunity for her to start a new chapter in her life.
"This is different," Roberts said. "This is stretching a different creative muscle for me as opposed to being at Good Morning America, one that I am so challenged by and so fascinated by, the whole process."
Stolen by My Mother is part of Lifetime's Ripped from the Headlines slate of shows, which are all based on real-life crime stories. The film also Niecy Nash, Rayven Symone Ferrell and Ta’Rhonda Jones, and will be followed by a documentary featuring the real-life people depicted in the movie.
Robin Roberts Presents: Stolen by My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story premieres Saturday, January 18 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
