“Grief related trauma; domestic violence, gun violence, school shootings tend to interfere with a child’s ability to perform academically. Parents and teachers also suffer from PTSD. Grief left untreated leads to PTSD and depression. Your presence and support for our 11th PURPLE Gala will help raise greater awareness of the impact of violence on survivors and would be meaningful to the families 1000 Mothers aims to support and honor” says Lorrain Franklin-Taylor, founder, 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence. Clifford Brown, Jr. formerly KDYA 1190AM will emcee; Lorrain Franklin-Taylor, a mother who lost both twin sons to gun violence (at the same time) in Oakland, will be the keynote speaker.
