Black History Heading

Time with one of my heroes of Black History: Gordon Parks

One of the most unforgettable moments in my life was having a casual convo (not on the air or a stidio) with the incredible filmaker, screenwriter, photographer, Gordon Parks. No microphones, no cameras- nobody else. Just a master storyteller in an empty banquet room and I. (Who listened earnestly in awe and holding on to his every word) After all he directed and wrote the screen play one of my favorite coming of age films, “The Learning Tree.” and of course “Shaft.” But I also remember seeing famous fashion spreds in Vogue, Life, Look Magazines or his moving photos in Ebony. You see, we are all born with our own special brand of ingenuity. Gordon Parks, from the time he was born, realized that life was constantly placing in him in situations to create and excell at things that he had never done before. That’s just what I learned in an hour and a few odd minutes with Gordon Parks.
