Know the real reason Cinco de Mayo is a holiday? Congratulations, you and I in the minority!!
Cinco De Mayo does NOT have much to do with margaritas, chips, salsa and drink specials! According to a new poll of 2,000 Americans, only 22 percent of respondents knew that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican army’s victory over the French empire. Yes, it was The Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. But in California Cinco de Mayo has been a cultural celebration since 1863! Hey, after all California used to be Mexico, we might as well continue the celebration! Now you know right? Happy Cinco de Mayo. (Drink Responsibly)
