On this day in 1937, Joe Louis reached new heights in the boxing world. On a summer night in Comiskey Park in Chicago, Louis knocked out James Braddock to become the heavy weight champion of the world. He went on to hold the title for the next 12 years and defended it 25 times. Both records for any weight class. Click here to read more about one of boxing’s absolute icons.
