You Can’t Shame An Honest Hustle

From my experience meeting a celebrity for the first time isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be. Many times they can come off as aloof or just straight up rude. This was not the case in a recent encounter between rapper/reality star Young Joc and one of his fans which was recorded and uploaded to her social media for the world to see.

After jumping in to a ride-share vehicle that came to pick her up the young lady was surprised to recognize the rapper sitting in the driver’s seat. After confirming that it was in fact Young Joc she proceeded to job-shame him and insist that he “must’ve fell off.” All while documenting it on her phone.

Here’s why this bothers me so much.

Even though this lady was clearly in need of some attention when she decided to upload the conversation, it’s a very clear indication of where we are as a society in terms of how we treat each other. And its a sad one.

First of all, I could never imagine being such a clown that I would try to embarrass someone who’s trying to make an honest living. What is that? You might as well go to a middle school and kick the mop out of a janitor’s hand. It’s just shameful.

Also, this is what happens when you’re part of a culture that  worships celebrities. Not only do you place them on a false pedestal but you become so delusional that you truly believe you’re entitled to ridicule and dehumanize them when they don’t meet the image that you foolishly bought in to.

Only clowns chase clout that hard.

Lastly, I have to say this: what makes you think that you’re in any position to humiliate a ride-share driver when you are in  THE BACK SEAT OF THEIR CAR? Maybe if she had his work ethic she could buy her own vehicle and not have to rely on somebody else to pick her up.

I wasn’t the one that got the ride but he gets 5 stars from me.
