The Oakland Raiders are probably regretting their big free agent signing from this offseason . . . because receiver ANTONIO BROWN has turned it into a CIRCUS.
After getting fined for missing a practice, Brown got into a heated exchange with Raiders GM Mike Mayock, and threatened to HIT HIM IN THE FACE. He even had to be held back by teammates. Then he punted a ball, and said, ‘Fine me for that.’
Obviously, threatening your GM is not smart . . . and not surprisingly, ESPN says the Raiders are planning on suspending Brown. They can sit him for up to four games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team.
That’d cost Brown almost $1 million per game, but he could lose more than that, because there’s talk the Raiders might cut him if the relationship can’t be salvaged.
Brown was supposed to get more than $30 million guaranteed over the next two years . . . but a suspension could allow them to void his guarantees, so he’d only get his $1 million signing bonus.
Brown is a very talented receiver . . . and people are already joking that he could end up with the New England Patriots.
But dramatically leaving TWO teams on bad terms in less than a year might make people gun-shy about bringing him in.
For what it’s worth, Brown unfollowed the Raiders and quarterback Derek Carr on Instagram. And speaking of social media, He recently posted about the helmet drama, and suggested that the whole thing was a marketing stunt.
